Baby On Board
Ok this might be a shit post but in my sleepy state this morning I felt compelled to write it. As I was driving to work at 8:30, I stopped behind a little car that was displaying a Baby On Board sign:

So as I was anxiously calmly waiting for the lights to change I focused on this sign. I see them everywhere, everyday and I'm sure you do to. But what does your mind think when you read it? Sure there's the obvious that there's a baby on board (or is there really?) Does it affect your driving habits, like slowing down or being more cautious of so called person with the sign. What exactly is the point of it? "Hey everyone! See this sign? See this sign here? Right here? Yeah, I gots a baby in my car, so, um, uh, um....yeah"
There's the copy-cat versions of these signs like Babe On Board, Mum's Taxi, Honk If Your Horny, Blonde On Board, even personalised Dog On Board ones. So these ones are more funnier than the Baby one, which seems to have no point if it's meant to make us more cautious, as Jeremy who wrote an article in below link quotes:
"If I have to drive with care, it would stand to reason that these people – the ones with the “Baby on Board” – should exercise caution when driving too. Instead, they seem to be the roadway renegade that can fly down the street and swerve in front of others without paying attention to their precious cargo “on board.”

Another point to make is the fine print on the sign. It says 'Safety 1st puts children 1st.' How is it putting children 1st when this sign is potentially dangerous? Can you imagine this sign falling down on top of your baby and they start chewing it or is pokes it in the eye, or cuts it if the car happens to stop suddenly? Or maybe the suction fails and it goes flying. Doesn't seem safe now does it, specially when its a pointless sign! About half the people who have them don't even have a kid in the car at the time and are driving around recklessly.
Just because they have that sign in the back of their car doesn't really give them the right to drive like a snail, when everyone is rushing to get to work. Specially if they aren't paying attention to road rules or don't know how to change lanes while driving in front of me, stopping about 50 times, while not using their mirrors, while a truck is right there, in peak hour traffic.
I say get rid of the stupid signs, they're probably blocking your view anyway. They're annoying and distracting to other drivers, and hey, we're not going to change our driving habits, specially when we're trying to get to work and you probably don't even have a baby in the back seat!
