Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
Wear Sunscreen.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering experience…
I will dispense this advice, now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth;
oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they've faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself, and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….
You are not as fat as you imagine.

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind;
the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

Sing

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss

Don’t waste your time on jealousy;
sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind; the race is long,
and in the end, it’s only with yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults;
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…
the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t,
maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t,
maybe you’ll divorce at 40,
maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…
what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much
or berate yourself either – your choices are half chance,
so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can,
don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it,
it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..

Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings, their your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but with the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get,
the more you need the people you knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard;
live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young
prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you.
Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse;
but you never know when either one might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal,
wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen…

What do you think?

I'm having second thoughts about getting a tattoo this week. Not because I'm scared or anything just I was told that if I got a tattoo and then lost weight it could skew the picture. Coz my aim is to lose some weight before my 21st which is in October, and if I was to get a lower back tattoo it could look different by then :-S So whoever reads this blog I'd like your opinion, on whether I should I shouldn't get a tattoo this week or to wait until after my birthday. Much appreciated! :)

New stuff

I'm getting a tattoo this week! Bram and I have decided to get tattoos together :) I'm getting a lower back one that is gorgeous but I might have a quick look in the shop in case there is something better. I've found a few places but need to find out which one is the cheapest and best. It'll be the first of only a couple :p I'm no tattoo freak!

Went to Adam's last week again by myself, and Steve, Jim and Adam were there, then Bram came later on and so did Andy. I took along my SEGA Mastersystem II haha how old skool is that! Jim went nuts over it! It was so funny. He's like "Do you have Alex Kid?" "Yes" "OMG!!" And then he started talking about the game which reminded me of the game and we felt like such nerds! Haha then Steve piped up saying he never got to play Alex Kid coz his cousin wouldn't let him coz he was too young. So Steve finally got to play! :) Cept coz its so old, its insides are a bit loose and it was fuzzy on tv but we made it work! When Bram and Andy came they got excited over Marble Madness and Double Dragon haha. You gotta love those old games, brings back memories.

I had to work long hours yesterday, from 10-5 ergh! But I had Pese to keep me sane haha We even made our lunch hour the same time so we could have lunch together and bum. It ended up being a pretty easy shift. I usually watch whatever movie is on in Home Ent. The latest being Narnia. You have to guess what's going on though coz I can't hear what they're saying :P I got asked AGAIN if I work at Big W! The woman even checks out what I'm wearing. God there are some dumb ass people in the world.

I've made a decision to go work in the U.K. when I finish my teaching course :) I'll be 25 by then lol it seems so old! But my cousin used to live over there and the apartments are fully furnished so that's a bonus! I've always wanted to live sort of countryside so we'll see how that goes. Don't know how I'll fend with the weather though, I hate the cold! But it'd be cool to have snow on your doorstep :) I'll be able to visit Rich in Ireland and wherever too hehe! I can't wait, it's going to be soo good, specially if I come back with an accent haha and your money doubles when you come back here too! :)

I'm thinking of having a personal trainer again even though I just got a new program written for me. Luke said I should keep training with him and I asked for a discount if I do coz I know Pook, so he said he could do it for $25 a session :p haha So yeah I'll give my program a go first and then prob have 1 or 2 sessions a week, coz boxing was fun! Its such a good cardio work out instead of running, coz it makes you use your upper body and abs, and if you add in kicking it gets your legs working too. He makes me do sprints and squats so its a full body cardio workout! He sounds like he pushes his clients much harder than the other trainers. He's a champ! :)

Anyways gotta go. I should really finish the Wolverine painting for Rich and catch up on some reading. Peace
